Red Spider at the Ceiling is an original song featuring MAYU released on September 19, 2019. It is featured in the album Calling Out the Sirens.
Background
The song is about the character of Akagi, an antagonist in the story mode of the mobile game Azur Lane, described as working with the Sirens, the main antagonists of the game.
Akagi is also described as being a very possessive yandere, shameless, not refraining herself a lot. She becomes lovey-dovey for her commander, even chaining them to her bed. To make this even more obvious, some of the lyrics are also sexual innuendos, such as "Maybe if you touch the tail, I won't refrain anymore", referring at the time to the tails of Akagi, inspired by the nine-tailed fox, but "tail" is also a slang used for the masculine's sex. This is also a reference about how Akagi is very at ease for erotic scenes, even if it has to happen publicly, or "in front of everyone".

Trivia
- In this version, by reading the French lyrics, Akagi is with a female commander, making her either lesbian either bisexual in this song.
- In the blog post for Rising Phoenix, the song for Taihou, Nynthixia clarified the two girls were bisexual in the songs, due to some players being women.
- Unlike all other songs made for Sakura Empire characters (Terror from Below (I-168) ; Requiem for a Cruel Fate (Shoukaku) ; Sanctuary of the Sirens (Zuikaku)), the song has been made more like one for the Sirens (LEVIATHANA (Arbiter III Empress) ; Simulation (Tester β / Observer α) or Purify the Web (Purifier)) due to her working closely with Sirens.
- The title is a reference to Akagi's in game quest called "Red Spider's Love" and the French expression "avoir une araignée au plafond", used for mentally unstable persons, like Akagi actually is.
- However the French expression translates into "to have a spider on the ceiling" and not "at the ceiling", due to French origins of the producer.[1]
